We are a Christian community committed
to sharing the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ.

We started out in November 1890 as the Lapel United Brethren in Christ. Following a tent revival in the Lapel area a group of Christians that were motivated by the spiritual renewal felt led of God to form a new church in the town of Lapel. Twenty-two founding members with the help of Rev. W.T. Boles established the new church which met in the Fishersburg and Lapel public schools until July of 1891, when a wood frame building was erected for a cost of $1,600 on the corner of Ford and 10th Streets of Lapel. This is the same location where the Ford Street Church sanctuary is located to this day.

In 1946, after the merger of the United Brethren and the Evangelical Brethren to form the Evangelical United Brethren, we became the Lapel Evangelical United Brethren Church. In 1968 the E.U.B. denomination and the Methodist Church merged to form the United Methodist Church. At that time we became know as the Ford Street United Methodist Church.

Even though there have been name changes over the years we remain dedicated to the same purpose that brought about this church - to follow the leading of God's Holy Spirit in order to bring glory to God and further His Kingdom. We at Ford Street Church believe it is important to win souls for Jesus Christ. We are unashamed to name the name of Jesus Christ as "The Way, The Truth, and The Life" that all must embrace if they wish to find salvation.

We actively support many missionary endeavors with our prayers and financial support believing that we are to be a part of the "Great Commission" of going out into all the world. Our pastor and several of our members have been involved in "short term" missions endeavors in the U.S. and abroad to spread the "Good News" of Jesus Christ.
